Open Source Cola

workshop bannerA group of Year 12 BACA Students studying AS Art were invited to take part in a unique workshop as part of the Brighton Digital Festival. Students got the opportunity to work with artists Kate Rich and Kayle Brandon who pioneered Cube-Cola, an open source recipe reverse engineered from the original iconic Coke. These two artists from Bristol have brought an ‘open-sourced DIY cola’ to Brighton to create The Cube Cola Trading Post at Brighton’s ONCA Gallery, St George Street, Brighton.

Students from BACA took part in a live participatory lab  demonstrating the production of Cube Cola from start to finish before discussing and exploring Cube-Cola in the context of arts practice, unpacking questions such as how Cube-Cola became an art project and why is it ‘art’?
